About Kathrin Blaha

Genuine interest in people and organisations inspired Kathrin's mission to share over 15 years of working experience, as well as her personal insights with teams and individuals who are interested in taking their development to the next level. It’s Kathrin’s intention to learn from each project she has been involved in, and to in turn share lessons learnt and valuable insights she obtained from being involved in many different projects.

Understanding

The ‘listening to reply instead of listening to understand' attitude is something that Kathrin has unfortunately encountered, and still encounters in all levels within organisations or companies. When the listening to understand principle is applied conscientiously in your interaction with others, mutual understanding and innovation will get the chance to thrive.

Connection

Kathrin is convinced that genuine interest which is reflected by the way you communicate is a prerequisite to establish true connections from human to human, as well as from employer to employee and vice versa. Therefore, the development of organisational sensitivity amongst managers and teams is obviously high on Kathrin's priority list when working together with her.

Projects

Kathrin is frequently asked to share communication insights with leaders and senior management of multinationals in various industries, and to assist them or their teams with further developing their communication skills, as well as their organisational sensitivity. She is consulted during the recruitment process of communications and marketing related roles and has successfully been supporting ‘high potentials’ in the marketing, sales and communications area.

Apart from having been involved in various marketing and sales projects and setting up large successful tender bids, Kathrin set up external and internal communication activities, guided and supported organisational change projects, and advised senior management during various business transitions in relation to acquisitions and mergers. Providing guidance and delivering diverse projects in the area of global safety related training courses and global (re)branding projects are included in her work experience.

Kathrin has vast experience in the Oil & Gas industry, with a special interest in increasing Safety Culture and incident prevention. By getting better insights into communication or the lack thereof, Kathrin can help to take your company’s Safety Culture to the next level and to assist you with incident prevention efforts when working with your teams: Increased clarity in communication and interactions during operational activities could prevent incidents with detrimental financial and corporate image related consequences.

During her previous employment with Lloyd’s Register, who improve safety, quality and performance in the Drilling and wider Energy industry, Kathrin was asked to move to the United States between 2013 and 2015 to initiate and supervise various merger-communications related projects.

Personal Background

Kathrin was born in the Netherlands and was raised bilingual (Dutch and German) by her Czech father and German mother. Her multi-cultural background combined with her international work experience helps Kathrin to understand the differences when it comes to effectively doing business in different cultures. Besides being fluent in Dutch and German, Kathrin is also fluent in spoken and written English, has a very good command of the Spanish language and has working knowledge of the French language.

When Kathrin was younger she wanted to become an Egyptologist - eventually this did not become her chosen career path, but her genuine interest in people, history, art and different cultures remain Kathrin's main driver to this day.
